Females in year 9, 10 and 11 interested in motor vehicles and engineering.

An exciting 7-week after-school club at Taunton College designed exclusively for females in years 9, 10 or 11 who are curious about cars, engineering and how things work. This hands-on programme offers a fun and supportive environment where learners can explore real automotive skills, solve engineering challenges and build confidence through practical activities.

Across the 7 weeks, participants will be introduced to key automotive and engineering concepts through engaging workshops led by our specialist instructors. Each session includes practical tasks, problem-solving activities, and team challenges that encourage creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.

We welcome all female-identifying, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students to this space.

Why Join?

  • Build confidence in a supportive, girls-only environment

  • Explore exciting career pathways in automotive and engineering

  • Learn real, practical skills using industry-standard equipment

  • Meet like-minded students and take part in fun weekly challenges.

Why This Matters

Women currently make up only 16.9% of the engineering and technology workforce in the UK*, and the Institute of the Motor Industry’s Diversity Report of 2024 highlighted that only 4% of automotive apprentices in the UK are women.

The UK needs to fill 173,000 engineering and technology roles by 2030* – an impossible feat without more women and non-binary people joining the industry. Let’s change the status quo.
