Harmful Sexual Behaviour

Young people’s sexual behaviours exist on a scale from those that are perfectly normal, expected and developmentally appropriate to those that are inappropriate, harmful and violent.

Teachers at our school, work alongside parents, to help educate our young people about these behaviours and to respond when things go wrong.

At Uffculme School we take the approach that harmful sexual behaviours (referred to as HSB) could happen in our school we therefore continuously work to proactively educate our students about appropriate behaviours and those that are harmful.

As a school we work exceptionally hard to ensure a safe environment for all of our students and adopt a zero tolerance approach to all forms of HSB

Teaching and responding to concerns around Harmful Sexual Behaviour is an extremely important aspect of our safeguarding of young people.

Educating students about HSB

HSB education is embedded in many areas of school life including:

  • The Personal Development curriculum

  • The pastoral system

  • Our assemblies programme

  • Student Voice activities

  • External visitors and ‘Drop down days’

  • The wider curriculum

Reporting concerns

Students can, and are encouraged to, report all incidents of HSB to any adult at school so we can quickly respond to it, providing the appropriate intervention and support as required.

Alternatively students can report it through our ‘REPORT IT’ button.
