Blackdown Education Partnership
Uffculme School is part of the Blackdown Education Partnership -
a partnership of schools working as a
Multi-Academy Trust across Devon and Somerset.
Our shared mission is to deliver excellent education for all our pupils (aged 2-18 years) so they go on to fulfil their potential, lead safe happy lives and make a positive contribution to society.
The aim of the Trust is to create and support a network of exceptional schools where:
each school within the Trust sits at the heart of its community
aspirations and expectations are high, and achievable, for everyone
the culture is joyful and children and staff enjoy coming to work and learn
Full information about the Trust, (inc the annual reports and accounts for the school) can be found on the Blackdown Education Partnership website
Governance of the Trust
The Trust is a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity.
Blackdown Education Parternship is governed by Members and Directors. Each must declare any pecuniary interests they have in relation to the work of the Trust and in relation to the business on each meeting’s agenda. A Register of Interests is maintained and is accessible to the public (see below)
Each year the Members and Directors must agree to our Code of Conduct (see below) which encompasses the ‘Nolan Principles of Public Life’.
Members and Directors are required to make an annual declaration of their eligibility to be part of the Trust as well as a safeguarding declaration.
Governance Documents for the Blackdown Education Parternship can be accessed via their website.
Members
Members oversee the work of the Trust and are responsible for overarching decisions, such as changing the Trust’s Articles of Association, and the appointment of Directors and Governors. Our Members subscribed to the formation of the Trust and meet the obligations set out in our Articles of Association.
Members hold Directors and the Board to account, and in this way ensure that the Trust is working to best effect.
Trustees
Trustees are appointed by our Members to take responsibility for the strategic direction of the Trust, working in the way that a Board oversees a company or charity.
Local Governing Comittees
Each School within the Trust has their own Local Governing Committee (LGC) which provides immediate oversight of the school for the Trust.
LGCs are made up of Governors who are recruited locally. Their work resembles that of the governing bodies of maintained schools and is set within the vision, values and policies defined by the Trust.
