Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Our extensive extra-curricular programme provides students with the opportunity to create great memories to look back on, as well as building essential life skills and qualities for the future, and cementing strong positive with the staff members that support them in this.

Clubs and Activities

Each term we offer a huge range of clubs and activities that students can join in with. Some run at lunchtimes and others after-school. Some are limited to specific year groups whilst others are open to all students to join in as mixed age activities.

The programmes and timetables will change each term and updated programmes will appear here. Below are details of the current clubs and activities on offer to students:

Extra-Curricular Clubs - Autumn 2024

Extra-Curricular Performing Arts Clubs - Spring 2025

Extra-Curricular PE Clubs - Autumn 2024

Instrumental Lessons

We have a team of fantastic professional instrumental teachers, many of whom are working and touring musicians too.

Lessons are usually given on an individual basis at a cost per lesson. Individual lessons are 25 minutes in length and rotate each week to avoid regular disruption to the same curriculum lessons.

We also have a system for group lessons, at the discretion of the instrumental tutor, for a weekly 30-minute session (these are not available for piano).

For more information and how to book or cancel lessons, please go here.

Activities Week - Years 7, 8 & 9

Each year (in the final week of the Summer term) all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 take part in Activities Week - a comprehensive offer of residential and day activities for everyone to join in with.

This week provides every student with the opportunity to mix and socialise with other students (outside their normal circle of friends), to try new experiences, access cultural opportunities, learn new skills, and make memories to share with their friends and families now and in later life.

Adventurous Activities

We also offer all students the opportunity to take part in more adventurous outdoor pursuit activities.

Moorland Walking (including Ten Tors)

We also offer all students the opportunity to take part in a range of Moorland Walking activities across Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor. Many of these opportunities will vary according to the year group a student is in, and the level of demand will also vary with some being walks, and others involving more challenging navigation and rough camping activities

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 can also take part in Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. Each year many students will complete the Bronze and Silver Awards.
