Ukraine Heroes Fundraiser
An ex-student of Uffculme, Laura, is currently part of a charity organisation who regularly send aid to families, hospitals and orphanages in the most damaged parts of Ukraine. She has worked tirelessly over the last two years and has been over to Ukraine several times, even experiencing the fear of the air raid sirens and the following bombs.
She has made friends with many individuals over there, including Gloria who is well into her 80s and was left with nothing after the invasion. The charity supports an orphanage of some 60 children of all ages, providing clean bedding, blankets, medical supplies as well as toys: their gratitude is immeasurable.
Laura has asked if Uffculme School can help support their latest charitable venture. There are over a million people who have been displaced from their homes with many of those having to leave the country, however, many have chosen or had to stay behind. These are the key workers; the carers, the hospital staff, the teachers, the support workers in the orphanages. We are asking you to show your support for them. To let them see that they are not alone in their struggles.
If you are able, please donate a box(es) or Cadbury’s Heroes and they will be taken over in Laura’s next visit later in October. Her aim is to take over two thousand and we can be a huge part of that. Whilst only a token gesture to us it means so much to them.
Students are being told about this through assemblies and there will be a prize for the tutor group who brings the most boxes in. If you can’t afford a box but would still like to contribute, we will accept donations and put them together to buy more!
Students should hand any donations in to their tutor.
The deadline has been extended to 6th October to allow us more time to collect.
