Our amazing performers have had the week off due to the School of Rock performances.

Jacob B J and Harry W competed in the GB Schools Target Shooting Championship at Cannock, Staffordshire last week.

Harry gained first place in the regionals, and Jacob a highly commendable second place.

Jacob competed in the Intermediate category - years 9 and 10, and Harry in the first year of the Senior category - years 11, 12 and 13.

In the national rankings Jacob sat in 38th place - following the qualification round at the finals he’d risen to 31st. For someone who has only recently taken up the sport, this is a huge achievement!

Harry qualified for the final in equal seventh place nationally and then managed to leap ahead in the final qualification for the final to third place. The final - the top eight athletes - is a highly pressurised event. After the first ten shots Harry sat in eighth place and managed to rise back to sixth before being knocked out.

Sixth place nationally is a brilliant result for Harry in this age group. This year will be Harry’s last in this category of competition (Sporter), before he moves on to Precision shooting which is the Olympic, Commonwealth, European and World Championship event.

Both Harry and Jacob represented the school brilliantly. We are very proud of them!

We love to celebrate our students’ achievements both in and out of school. Please email us a photo and a brief summary if your child has any extra-curricular achievements you would like featured in the bulletin. Information should be sent to office@uffculmeschool.bep.ac

National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week this week all year groups have had assemblies on apprenticeships. Finding out from local employers, further education and higher education providers a bit more about how apprenticeships work, what areas of work you can do apprenticeships in and the different levels of apprenticeships there are available.

Some useful resources you may like to look at:

Arbor Parent Portal - Data Checking

It is essential that the data the school holds about students and their families is correct and up to date so we'd like to remind all parents and carers how to use their Arbor Parent Account to do this.

If you have not already activated your Arbor account, please do so using the instructions on the school website at Arbor — Uffculme School

Once logged into the Parent Portal, the 'View Student Profile' button will take you to your child's data - please check that everything is accurate and complete.  If you need to amend or add any details, please use the 'Add' buttons to do so.

If you need to let us know of a new medical condition or allergy, or to remove one, please email details to office@uffculmeschool.bep.ac.  If a student has a dietary requirement or allergy on their record, they will be unable to purchase anything from the canteen that contains the restricted foodstuff so please ensure this information is up to date.

From the Student Profile page you will be able to access your own address and contact information and it is vital that this is also checked.  You will see other contacts for your child listed, but only that contact person can see their details.  It is therefore important that all parental contacts log in and check their own information.

Please contact Liz Mitchell at mitchelll@uffculmeschool.bep.ac if you have any problems or queries with your Arbor Parent Account.

Outdoor Pursuits Calendar

We have now launched our  Outdoor Pursuits Calendar for the Spring/Summer Term.  If your child would like to be considered for any of the activities, please select them on the ‘expression of interest’ form by Wednesday 25th February 2026.

Activities Week 2026

Day trips have now been added to ParentPay for each of the Activities Week choices for students in Years 7, 8 and 9.

Payments for larger trips can be made in instalments to suit you; however, all payments for all AW26 trips, including both school-based activities, day trips and residential options, must be made in full by Friday 8 May 2026.

If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium, the £50 discount will be applied after the half‑term break.

Should you have any queries relating to any of the Activities Week options, please email finance@uffculmeschool.bep.ac and include your child’s name and year group in your message.

Meet your PTFA!

The Annual General Meeting for our Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will take place on Wednesday 4 March at 6pm. We will meet outside The Venue for drinks and nibbles and then commence the meeting at around 6.15. Whether you would love to join the committee, help out at the annual craft fair or are simply a bit curious, please do come along and join us!

In the run up to the meeting we will be interviewing the current PTFA committee members to find out a bit about them, why they joined the PTFA and what they enjoy about it. Please see the PTFA page on the website for this week's interview with our Treasurer: Hilary Clements
