Remembrance Service
Heavy rain meant we had to gather inside as we remembered and honoured those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.
Thank you to everyone who took part and shared in this solemn act of remembrance. Thank you to Year 10 students who attended in their organisation's uniform to help us mark this important event in our school calendar.
Our amazing performers this week have been Effie B and Lily B.
Meet the Senior Council
Welcome to our Meet the Senior Council segment, where we will be giving you the opportunity to get to know your Senior Council a little better! This week, we have our Head Girl Jess Lang and Head Boy Sam Williams.
Hi, I’m Jess Lang and I am this year’s Head Girl. I hope to support and encourage everyone and bring a positive change to our school this year.
I love sport, and I am involved in many of the school’s teams, for example basketball, athletics, cross country and hockey. Outside of school, I love going climbing and being outdoors. At school, I have been a STEM leader, a Sports Leader, a House Captain and am currently a Peer Mentor, a member of the Christian Union and Chair of the Interact Committee, where we raise money for charities. These are just a few of the opportunities I have taken part in at Uffculme, and I am grateful for all of them.
My aims as Head Girl are to encourage students to take part in extracurricular activities, of which there are a wide range. I would also like to help all students feel listened to and comfortable during their time at school. As the Senior Council, we are already working (alongside the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors) on creating a safe space for students to go to at lunch times, and we have set up an email address so students can contact us. We promise to listen to and act on any suggestions or requests.
The email address is uff-seniorstudentcouncil@uffculmeschool.bep.ac
Look forward to hearing from you! Jess.
Hello. I’m Sam, and I am this year’s Head Boy. In this role, I, along with Jess Lang, lead the Senior Council in making decisions and changes that positively impact students here at our school.
Outside of this role, I enjoy running, reading, writing, football and rugby. My favourite subjects are Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History and Engineering. I often help out at running club, which runs (quite literally) every Friday, where a host of students of all abilities go for a jog offsite.
Don’t hesitate to say ‘Hi’ if you see me around school.
If you haven’t already, listen to Sam and Jess’ interview on the UffPod.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
On Friday 7th November the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra visited and performed their annual GCSE Music concert. We were joined by several other schools and the musicians were phenomenal. The concert was conducted by Patrick Bailey. Our very own Darcy H (Y11) got the chance to sing Defying Gravity accompanied by the orchestra as this is one of the GCSE suggested works. She did an amazing job and should be so proud!
Bookbuzz
Earlier this term, every Year 7 student was able to choose a brand new book through the BookBuzz scheme, which is very kindly sponsored by the PTFA. The books arrived in school last week and have been sorted and delivered to Tutors to give to their tutees. We hope students enjoy their new books and look forward to hearing the ideas and conversations they generate.
We need cake!
To support the Christmas Craft Fair, could you bake a cake? It would be a great help! We would prefer whole cakes rather than individual small
cakes - Gluten free and Vegan options would also be amazing. Can you please attach the list of ingredients? Please do not cut them ahead of time, we will handle it on the day.
We would be really grateful if they could be dropped at Reception on Friday 21st November in time for the Christmas Craft Fair, so we know what we have available, but Saturday morning at the Kitchen is an option as well.
Thank you, in advance, for your support.
House Music updates for next week!
House Music Competition is in full swing but we still need students to support the choirs.
Rehearsals are:
Bridwell – Tuesday 1:30pm Ms1
Craddock – Thursday 1:30 Ms2
Gaddon – Friday 1:30 Ms2
Yondercott – Wednesday 1:30 Ms1
