Apprenticeship Information
Apprenticeships enable young people to work at a real job whilst studying for a formal qualification, providing them with the perfect combination of hands-on experience, and a salary - whilst also studying at college.
We seek to ensure that all students fully investigate the Post-16 opportunities available to them including Apprenticeships.
Introduction
Apprenticeships are a fantastic route to employment and a long-term career path - with more than 90% of apprentices staying on in their role after their apprenticeship has ended.
When you undertake an apprenticeship, at least 20% of your time is set aside for learning, with the remainder of your time being at work.
An apprenticeship can last anywhere between one and four years, and are available from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) right up to Level 7 (degree level) across a huge range of industries including Nursing, IT, Construction and Engineering.
Levels 4 and 5 apprenticeships are equivalent to a HNC/Diploma or a Foundation Degree
Level 6 apprenticeships are equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree
Many local employers offer apprenticeships to school leavers with links to local colleges. As new ones become available, details will be posted on this page with information about how students can apply.
